One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple.
“Here is what I have found,” says the Preacher,
“Adding one thing to the other to find out the reason,
Which my soul still seeks but I cannot find:
One man among a thousand I have found,
But a woman among all these I have not found.
Truly, this only I have found:
That God made man upright,
But they have sought out many schemes.”
But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead
What do all these verses have in common? What is the one good thing?
The One Good Thing is Christ Jesus. In all our strivings and seekings, all our reasonings, and comparisons. In all our politics and philosophies, in all our efforts and work and accomplishment… there is but one good thing.
