Habakkuk Reminder

Habakkuk 3: A Hymn of Faith

17 Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls–
18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.

19 The LORD God is my strength;
He will make my feet like deer’s feet,
And He will make me walk on my high hills.

The stock market dived today; some of the dreams my kids had are being brutally tested; my marriage is presently challenging; I feel that I have about all the letdowns I can take; my spiritual life feels on the skids; I still have difficulty accepting the exploitation of an opportunistic woman who made shambles of my fathers last two years and made off like a bandit; I am overwhelmed with the same work and household problems that I have tried to handle the last several years; the war news gets worse and worse; ……no one needs to hear more.

But in all this, the spoken and unspoken difficulties, God is faithful. God is worthy of praise. Even when much is diminished and damaged, He still has given plenty that is good, hope for good in the future. The Lord God is good and greatly to be praised… especially by those who know Him. Because they have seen the merciful goodness of the LORD, and how he turns sorrow into joy.

It’s a miraculous thing. The sun rises … and it’s a new day!
