It’s A Crazy World, Isn’t It?

First up: a case of overkill, “A police officer has been charged with using a Taser on his partner during an argument over whether they should stop for a soft drink.”

Some people just shouldn’t be allowed to own dangerous toys. It makes you wonder how these powder kegs pass through the screening to places of responsibility and service. Or maybe someone didn’t get their sugar high for the day…. – now, there is dangerous.

Next, by now everyone has probably read how Coulter, darling of conservatives gets booed off a stage. Sure, we all have our opinions depending on which political side of the fence we sit on, but two things stand out, for me. One is said best by a student ( which is likely why he was quoted) “It really appalled me that we’re not able to come together as a group and listen to a different view in a respectful environment”. The other thing, useful for bloggers and others who write and pontificate, is that sometimes there is a disconnect between sitting down with a blank page and having a peanut gallery of supporters, and the realization that one is stockpiling some aggrieved hostilities in the general public. Perhaps this is one of the reasons behind the simmering, entrenched polarities that we see in our society. I know the other obvious, and probably larger, reasons that each side would submit, and they are probably true explanations for the PoV of each side, but sometimes it only takes a small amount of instability to set the whole thing off. I wonder if our increasing isolation from each other in real-world shoulder rubbing, while relegating more of our lives to technological interaction doesn’t take some responsibility for the inability to have “disinterested discourse”? Disinterested, in the Victorian sense, of the word which means we have little personal agenda at stake.

I am fooling around with the page… as some might have noticed. Somehow my ability to master the code and the graphics has degraded. It takes me forever to get things right. If they are right. I still don’t get css, and php is a complete mystery even though I tried looking at it some months ago.

Plus the fact that my area has had lots of little power outages. Very bad for the computer…

And the spammers, especially trackback spammers, are out in force. It is holding up my posting, since I like to keep the site clean…. I spend alot of time picking up the trash and disposing of it.
