Johnathan Edwards and Charismatics?

I found this to be an intriguing look at the respected early American preacher of the Great Enlightenment and today’s outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

From Castle Sands:
While the theological innacuracies and unwise practices should be highlighted and corrected, many cessationists condemn Azusa street for the physical manifestations alone. They see such outward phenomena as clear evidence of the unbiblical nature of the underlying cause. Is this a correct assessment? I do not think so. Nor does Jonathan Edwards:

“A work is not to be judged of by any affects on the bodies of men; such as tears, tremblings, groans, loud outcries, agonies of bodies, or the failing of bodily strength. The influence persons are under is not to be judged of one way or other by such affects on the body; and the reason is because the Scripture nowhere gives us any such rule.”
