the president said he recently read John Barry’s book, “The Great Influenza: The Epic Story of the Deadliest Plague in History,” on his vacation, said Dr. Stephen S. Morse, a founding director of the Center for Public Health Preparedness, part of the National Center for Disaster Preparedness at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is working on a detailed pandemic plan set to be unveiled within the next few weeks.
